The lioness was found injured on the left side of her face near the jaw on November 3 at Sayajibaug zoo. The wound further spreads due to scratching with her paw. The dressing of her wound started as soon as it came to the notice of the Zoo Authorities and she was kept in a separate cage on injectable medicines, antibiotics for three days. However with no improvement, a team of specialist doctors from Anand Veterinary College and a team from Sayajibaug performed minor surgery. She was then kept on glucose, saline, supplements in unconscious state and then later on liquid diet after the lioness gain consciousness. She even started eating from Thursday which gives a positive sign but to everyone's shock died on Sunday.

"It's a very sad moment for us as the lioness was showing improvement after the surgery and also eating solid food. Her organs are also performing well but the cause of death might be the functioning of the kidneys. However all will be clear after the post mortem. Now as per protocol for Schedule 1 animals, detailed postmortem will be conducted and her tissues and viscera will be collected and send for further examination to know the exact cause of death. Panchnama report will be send to the central zoo authority and PCCF and Chief Wildlife Gujarat. Later the carcass will be burned with respect," said Pratyush Patankar Zoo curator.
