A three month 'Gujarati Language Introduction Certificate Course' was launched on the occasion of Umashankar Joshi's birth anniversary at Gujarati Bhasha Sahitya Kendra, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar. This certificate course has been started for the teaching and non-teaching staff of CUG and other institutes including students.
The program was presented by Dr. Ajaysinh Chauhan, Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Gujarati Language and Literature Center. Dr. Rajesh Makwana, Chairman and Professor of Gujarati Language and Literature Center delivered the welcome speech in the program. Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Dubey, the Dean of the School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies, also spoke about starting courses in other languages.
The special guest of the function and former professor of Sardar Patel University and Gujarati writer, Prof. Manilal H. Patel explained the importance of Gujarati language through literature. The president of the inauguration ceremony and Vice Chancellor of Central University of Gujarat, Prof. Rama Shanker Dubey said that language is very important in life. He also discussed the development of Gujarati language and the national language.
