Gujarat: Two accidents in Kutch, Surendranagar kills seven

Seven people, including four of a family from Ahmedabad, died in two separate accidents reported from Surendranagar and Kutch districts, late on Thursday night.

In Surendranagar, the accident happened near Narmada canal at Kadu village of Lakhtar taluka when the car of Ahmedabad family hit a truck, overturned and veered off the road. The deceased were identified as Soham Bhatt, 32, his nine-year-old son Kirtan, Rita Joshi, 47 and Anjali Joshi, 23. All four died on the spot. Soham's wife Krishna and 18 months old daughter Riva suffered severe injuries and are under treatment at Surendranagar Civil Hospital, police said.

The family, living in Ranip area of Ahmedabad, were on way to Dedadra village of Wadhwan to attend a yagna of Bhadrakali Mataji, police added.

In another accident, three windmill workers died when their SUV and truck collided head-on near Agiya crossing. The deceased were identified as Bachhisinh Sodha, 57, Dinesh Gor, 23 while the third victim was not identified.

Sodha died on the spot while Gor died during treatment in Bhuj hospital. The unidentified person died on the way to Ahmedabad hospital. They were returning after completion of duty hours at a windmill.
