Principal secretary Hareet Shukla, who oversees tourism, devasthanam management and civil aviation, has been appointed as the chief electoral officer (CEO) of the state following approval from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
P Bharathi, who recently supervised the general election and by-elections for five assembly seats in the state, is expected to be reassigned within the state administration after completing her training in Mussoorie.
The CEO operates directly under the Election Commission of India (ECI). Bharathi assumed the CEO role in April 2022, just months before the Gujarat assembly election.
Shukla is currently on a foreign vacation and is anticipated to return in a couple of days. Additionally, on June 29, the govt transferred B H Talati, additional secretary of the climate change department, to the position of special director at the state institute of rural development.
P D Palsana, who completed his tenure as the joint chief electoral officer of Gujarat, has been reassigned as the joint secretary in the agriculture, farmers welfare, and cooperation department.
