One more company owner in Vadodara has fallen victim to the rising incidence of online fraud. The cyber hacker hacked the account by sending an e-SIM message and transferred Rs 46 lakh to his account in 51 hours. The owner of the company, who was the victim of online fraud, said in the complaint that the fraudsters had withdrawn different amounts in 14 fraud transactions from his bank account.
Sanjaybhai Chaturbhai Patel said, he is staying with my family at A-40, Balgopal Tenement, near Sai Chokdi in Manjalpur area of the city. He is doing business of metal powder production along with his father in a company called Crown Ferro Alloys Pvt. Ltd. at No. 497-5 in Makarpura GIDC. On the evening of 26-7-2021, he received a message from Jio Company on his mobile phone, mentioning about the request of e-seam has been given by him through message. The phone disconnected soon as he saw the message.
He further said in the complaint that as soon as the phone was switched off, he called Jio Custom Care and got information that the message was send from his number. The response from customer care was that there was nothing they could do about it and advised to go to the store. But, all of Jio stores were closed as it was Sunday.
On July 26, he sent his friend Umang Badheka to the Jio store to get a SIM card, in which the whole day had passed. The SIM card was switched on at 9 pm and the fraudsters made 14 transactions from the company's account and transferred Rs 46 lakh online. He informed it to the zonal manager of Bank of India, but he said that the fraudsters hacked the account and used the ID and password to transfer Rs 46 lakh online.
After the details given by the bank manager he lodged a complaint in Cyber Crime after giving information about the money withdrawn from the account. Based on the complaint a criminal investigation has been launched against unknown thugs.
