Atal ranking: Five Gujarati universities are in the top ten

In the third edition of the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2021, five universities and higher education institutes from Gujarat were among the top ten in various categories.

Under the All India University and Deemed to be University (Government and Government supported) (technical) category, Gujarat Technological University (GTU) Ahmedabad was ranked seventh, while Gujarat University (GU) Ahmedabad was ranked ninth.

In the college/institutes (Government and Government Aided) (technical) category, LD College of Engineering Ahmedabad was placed third, and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India was ranked first in the General (non-technical) category.

In the category of private/self-financed universities, Pandit Deendayal Energy University Gandhinagar was ranked sixth.

"The biggest university in technical education in the state has embarked upon an ambitious plan to expand innovation activities in coming days," said GTU vice-chancellor Prof Navin Sheth.

In the General (Non-Technical) Category, EDII was ranked first. "EDII is the only institute from Gujarat to be ranked as number 1 across all seven categories. These recognition not just motivates us but establish how entrepreneurship is gaining prominence," said EDII director general Dr Sunil Shukla.

Only two universities from Gujarat were ranked in the top five public-funded institutes for start-up projects and entrepreneurship by the Ministry of Education's Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) in 2020.
