Previously implemented during his tenure as Joint Police Commissioner of the Crime Branch, this approach involves summoning known offenders to the Crime Branch every Sunday for an identification parade.
The practice helps the police track their movements and prevent repeat offenses. This initiative had previously proven effective in reducing crime and strengthening law enforcement's control over habitual offenders.
A list of 1,481 criminals has been compiled, including 303 bootleggers, 21 individuals linked to gambling dens, 687 involved in violent crimes, 424 charged with property offenses, and 46 accused in NDPS and other cases.
On the first Sunday of the renewed initiative, 353 criminals were called in, including 60 chain snatchers, 139 vehicle thieves, 70 mobile snatchers, 8 violent crime offenders, 4 robbers, and 72 accused of thefts.
During the session, Commissioner G.S. Malik issued a stern warning, making it clear that any further involvement in crime would result in stricter legal action.
The city police are determined to maintain law and order by closely monitoring and deterring habitual offenders.
