Four rescued from debris after under construction building collapsed in Vadodara

Four casualties recovered by the Vadodara Fire Brigade after a new under construction building collapsed in Bavamanpura area of the city. Total five emergency vans are at the site along with 25 firefighters as search operation is on at the spot. The number of fatalities will be finalised after the hospital report.

As per available details a new under construction building collapsed late night in Bavamampura area of Vadodara. Around six workers are reported to be trapped under the debris as fire brigade reached the spot after declared it as major call.

With cutters, Acostic device, Aska lights, thermal sensors and other equipments the team rescued four people from the debris and search for the remaining ones. The three floor building is under construction and the workers working in the site lives there and trapped under the debris after it collapsed. However all will be clear after the search operation gets over.

The vehicles parked nearby are damaged after the debris fell on them. It is learnt that the building was tilt little bit and ignored by the builder which leads to this major incident.

The injured are shifted to SSG hospital for treatment and search is on to rescued the remaining. Around 5 emergency vehicles, JCB’s and other machines are engaged in rescue work by the firefighters. The incident shocked the people of the area as police also reached the site to control the situation.

As per fire officer Om Jadeja, the building was under construction and the purpose of its use is under investigation. Different teams are involved with them like the FSL and other departments collected the samples from the spot for testing. The construction seems to be of low quality and heavy rains might add to the collapse. The material used in the construction is under investigation. Their first priority is to search for the people trapped under the debris as due to low visibility at night the operation stretched till morning. Now they are hopeful to complete the operation as morning sets in.
