Renner was seriously injured in a weather-related accident while plowing snow outside his Nevada home Sunday morning. According to reports, Renner was plowing snow on the road so his family could get out after a snowstorm.

One of his neighbours said that despite its safety features, the Sno-Cat plow ran over one of Renner’s legs, Guardian reported.

That area in northern Nevada was hit by heavy snowfall, as many parts of the US were hit by a ferocious winter storm that brought snow and subzero temperatures through the last week of December.

He was airlifted after the accident.

A two-time Oscar nominee, Renner has starred in Marvel's Hawkeye series as well as the Avengers and Captain America films.

He is currently starring in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown, which is debuting its second season on January 15.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, the crime series revolves around America's prison systems.

Renner was nominated for Best Actor at the 2010 Academy Awards for his performance in The Hurt Locker, and for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Town.

Besides the Marvel films, he has also essayed pivotal roles in Mission: Impossible films, Arrival, American Hustle and 28 Weeks Later.
