Gave guidelines for free, fair and impartial elections
Jata Shankar Choudhary, Election observer appointed by the Central Election Commission, held a meeting with District Election Officer and Collector Shalini Agarwal at Vadodara Collectorate on Thursday along with appointed Nodal Officers for smooth conduct of Karjan constituency elections. He gave necessary guidelines for holding the Karjan by-election in a free and fair environment and asked each officer to fulfill their responsibilities.
District Election Officer and Collector Shalini Agarwal gave details of the work carried out by the District Electoral System for the by-election of Karjan seat. Election observer Jata Shankar Chaudhary suggested to make a comprehensive campaign for maximum number of women voters in the by-elections as well as to make necessary arrangements so that disabled voters can cast their votes without any inconvenience.
Shalini Agarwal informed about the arrangements made for maximum turnout in the by-election of Karjan seat as well as for the disabled voters.
She said that by-election of Karjan assembly seat is scheduled on 3rd November. Necessary training is being imparted by selecting officers and staff following the rules and provisions of the Election Commission of India as well as special instructions regarding Corona to operate all the 311 polling stations.
She also said that as a precautionary measure, a rapid test would be conducted before the polling day to ensure that all these people were free of Corona.
Election Observer Jata Shankar Chaudhary gave detailed information after getting details about the work done by the nodal officers for the necessary pre-preparations.
Ballot units, counting units and VVPATs have been allotted in the proportion prescribed by the Election Commission for conducting the polls. 16 technical teams have been formed to keep these machines running and in good condition. The election observer was informed about the demonstration.
Apart from this, various issues including measures taken to maintain law and order, transportation of polling materials and troops, distribution of polling materials at Karjan and arrangement of return centers were discussed in detail.
District Development Officer Kiran Zaveri, District Police Officer Sudhir Desai, Resident Additional Collector DR Patel, Deputy District Election Officer R.M. Nodal officers including Joshi were present.
