SC declines urgent hearing of plea on hijab row

Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana on Friday declined to take up for urgent hearing an appeal against the interim order of the Karnataka High Court on the hijab issue in the state.

Ramana said the Supreme Court would interfere in the issue "only at an appropriate time". A girl in Karnataka had approached the Supreme Court, arguing the interim order of the High Court would violate her constitutional rights.
