Australia’s Western Sydney University to open campus in Greater Noida

After Deakin University and University of Wollongong, Australia’s Western Sydney University (WSU) is planning to set up a campus in India.

If approved, the WSU will have their campus in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The update was shared by the Australian High Commissioner, Philip Green to the microblogging site, X.

The WSU acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Sweeney has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh from the Uttar Pradesh Government (GoUP) for the same.

Professor Sweeney said they are interested in focusing on creating impactful solutions for sustainable agriculture and food security, with teaching, research and technological innovations specifically tailored for the country’s agritech, technology and other allied industries.

Notably, the other two Australian universities have campuses in Gujarat.

Meanwhile, last year, the University led by Consul General McGeachy, met Karnataka Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar and Chief Secretary Dr Shalini Rajneesh to discuss the establishment of an agricultural university in the state.
