On Friday, Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta Platforms, experienced a widespread outage, affecting a large number of users, as reported by, a website that tracks service outages.

Over 8,000 users encountered difficulties accessing Facebook, whereas approximately 3,000 users experienced issues with Instagram, as reported by a significant number of individuals.

After an outage that impacted numerous users, Meta Platforms announced on Friday that services on its social media applications, namely Facebook and Instagram, had been successfully restored after more than two hours.

According to the website that tracks service outage at a certain moment, nearly 20,000 users in total reported difficulties accessing Facebook, Instagram, and Meta's messaging service, WhatsApp.

Meta confirmed that the problems related to Ads Manager, the advertising platform that enables brands to purchase and develop Facebook advertisements, were also resolved.

To recall, Meta Platform Inc's Instagram was down the previous month as well. After it was back up for most users, the company had said that after a technical issue that disrupted services to thousands of people had been resolved.

 Last month, the company did not disclose the number of users affected by the disruption. However, Outage tracking website Downdetector.com had showed more than 100,000 incidents in the United States, 24,000 in Canada and over 56,000 in Britain.

More than 180,000 users reported issues with accessing Instagram last month and Instagram was down for some users from around 5:45 p.m. EST (2145 GMT), according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

The number of outages eased to just over 7,000 reports as of 8:30 p.m. EST.
