Sandeep won gold in the men’s 400m T64 event with a world-record performance, while Naveen Sivakumar claimed gold in men’s singles SL4 para-badminton. Indian archers Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi also secured gold in the men’s recurve team event.
Para-badminton delivered further success as Nitesh Kumar defeated fellow Indian Pramod Bhagat in the men’s singles SL3 final. Nitesh won gold, while Pramod took silver. India also added medals in para-athletics, including gold for Haney in the men’s javelin throw F37/38 event.
India Targets Its Previous Medal Record
India’s 101-medal tally places it within reach of its previous best performance of 111 medals at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China. With competitions continuing on October 23, the Indian contingent has an opportunity to improve its overall tally further.
The achievement highlights the growing strength of Indian para-sports and the dedication of athletes competing at the continental level.
