VMC health department raid food stalls and shops using newspaper

Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan health department team raid 45 shops and food stalls in various areas of the city to check the quality of the food and the way it is served to the people.

The aim is to stop the use of news papers and printing papers which is hazardous to health and it can cause cancer if used for long time. The health department served noticed to the stalls and shops after the raid.

On Saturday morning VMSS health department formed two teams and conduct raid on stalls and shops selling sweets and food items in Manjalpur, Gotri, Nizampura and Chhani village. The team give instructions to the owners not to use newspapers and printing paper and also give notice to them.

Food inspector Vipul Rana said that almost everywhere in the city the food, nasta stalls and shops selling sweets and food items are using news papers and printing papers to give items to the customers.

The customers are unknown about the health hazard and while they were eating the ink used in printing also went with the food and they are prone to disease. He further added that the long time use of such things can lead to cancer and their teams are starting the drive to prevent the use of hazardous material.

Rana said they are guiding the shopkeepers and the stall owners to prevent using such papers and also give them notices. On Saturday they served notice to 45 stalls and shops selling food items and sweets. After few days their teams will check the same spots and if the stalls and shops are still using the same papers then the department will take action against them according to food safety laws.
