Vadodara Congress gives memorandum to DEO demanding admissions for students under RTE

Threaten to lock the DEO office

With a demand to give admissions under RTE, Vadodara Congress members give memorandum to DEO on Wednesday. They put allegations on the schools giving admissions to students in return for money.

City Congress President Prashant Patel said about 10,000 students shall get the admissions under RTE rules, but 4,000 are still waiting for the admissions. He added that Congress earlier also approached the DEO on the same matter and they promised to give admissions to every student falls under RTE rules.

However after 15 days of school opening the students are yet to get the admissions and parents are visiting the DEO office many times in the day to know the proceedings.

On Wednesday the Congress members gives the memorandum to the DEO and protest inside the office demanding to give admissions to every students. He said the DEO asked for time till evening and if the matter is still not resolved then they will lock the DEO office and continue their fight for the students. Leader of opposition in VMC Chandrakant Srivastav and other members joined the agitation.

DEO U.N. Rathod said around 8000 parents registered online for the RTE admissions and 5733 students are already enrolled. Under the rules the students have to choose the schools that comes under six kilometers area from their residence. The schools have 25% seats reserved for such students and if the seats are filled then also the admissions shall be given to them. The process for enrolling the remaining ones is already going on as per the rules.
