Students of Faculty of Journalism and Communication bag runners up trophy in prestigious Design and Advertising event held at IIT, Ropar. The event was attended by teams of other states and the MSU team won the trophy for a television commercial on a consumer product spontaneously shot and edited by them, in the given time limit.

Three second year BJMC students, Priya Valaniya, Preeti Dalal, and Tanishka Jain, from the MSU Faculty of Journalism and Communication participated in the second edition of a three day workshop held from 10th to 12th October, 2019. The workshop on “Design and Advertising” was organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Punjab.

The workshop was attended by participants from Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, among other states. The team of students from MSU Faculty of Journalism and Communication was the only one from Gujarat to take part in it.

The event wrapped up with an advertisement competition, in which students from FJC-MSU won the runners-up trophy and a cash award of Rs, 15,000/- for a television commercial on a consumer product spontaneously shot and edited by them, in the given time limit. Team from Delhi University was placed in the first position, and team from Chandigarh University stands at third position.

Prizes were distributed to the winners by Krishnam Raju DGM, NCC Limited. Earlier, the Workshop had been inaugurated by the Guest of Honour, Prof. P.K. Raina (Dean, Academics) and Prof. Bijoy Boruah of IIT Ropar, and K.V. Reddy, GM (Tech.), NCC Limited, who were the sponsors of the event.

The national level three day workshop gave an interesting tri-dimensional perspective on Advertising as art, psychology, and management. It was coordinated by Dr. Parwinder Singh from Department of Psychology, IIT Ropar, and proved to be a holistic learning experience for all participants.
