Bharuch murders: NIA petition for polygraph test on Abid, two others rejected
Special judge P B Desai rejected the application citing a Supreme Court order that an accused can undergo the lie detection test only after his/her nods. Before the hearing, defence lawyer Zamir Shaikh had informed the court that the accused have refused to undergo polygraph test.
The NIA had sought permission to conduct the test on Abid Patel, brother of fugitive gangster Javed Chikna, Inayat Vora alias Bala and Yunus Shaikh alias Manjaro, all residents of Bharuch. The three are alleged to be main conspirators, who hired other co-accused and hatched the conspiracy to kill Shirish Bangali, former Bharuch district BJP president, and Pragnesh Mistry, general secretary of BJYM in Bharuch, on November 2 2015.
