6.6 magnitude earth quake jolts Japan

An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale jolted Japan's Tottori prefecture on Friday, weather officials said, adding that a tsunami warning was not issued.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said the temblor was centered in the central part of prefecture, with the epicentre recorded at a latitude of 35.4 degrees north and a longitude of 133.9 degrees east and at depth of 10 km, Xinhua news agency reported.

There were no immediate reports of any damage or casualties.
