Armed Robbers Loot Bank in Varachha, Staff Held Hostage
A major robbery incident created panic in Surat after four armed men looted approximately ₹50 lakh from a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in the Varachha area during broad daylight. According to initial reports, the robbers entered the bank with weapons, threatened staff at gunpoint, and briefly held them hostage while carrying out the heist.
The accused reportedly fled the scene with the cash before police could arrive, leaving behind a tense situation in the locality. Upon receiving information, a heavy police contingent along with senior officials rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
Authorities have launched a large-scale operation to track down the suspects. CCTV footage from inside the bank and nearby areas is being closely examined to identify the robbers. Police have also set up roadblocks across key routes in the city and intensified checking to prevent the accused from escaping.
The shocking daylight robbery has raised serious concerns over public safety and bank security in the area, with further investigation currently underway.
