Toxic Work Culture”: Chadha Targets Kejriwal After Dramatic Exit
In a major political development, Raghav Chadha on Monday announced his exit from the Aam Aadmi Party, alleging that the party’s internal environment had become “toxic” and restrictive for its leaders.
Chadha, who was among the founding members of AAP, stated that he had dedicated 15 years of his life and “prime youth” to building the party but felt increasingly sidelined in recent years. In a video message shared on social media, he claimed that leaders were being stopped from working and speaking freely, adding that the party was now “trapped in the hands of corrupt and compromised individuals.
” Drawing a parallel with a toxic workplace, he said that when hard work is suppressed and voices are silenced, leaving becomes the only viable option. Chadha, along with six other MPs — including Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Swati Maliwal, and Vikramjit Sahney — formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on April 24. Citing constitutional provisions, he noted that a two-thirds majority of MPs can merge with another party.
The move was later approved by the Rajya Sabha chairman, raising BJP’s strength in the Upper House to 113 members, while the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP has now been reduced to just three MPs. Chadha emphasized that his decision was not about personal ambition but about continuing “positive politics” on a new platform, where he hopes to work more effectively for the public.
