Tensions between India and China have increased along the Arunachal Pradesh border, with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Kapur confirming that Indian and Chinese troops continue to face each other at several locations along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
Speaking ahead of the ITBP’s 65th Raising Day, Kapur said the confrontations had continued since July. Reports have also pointed to tensions near Taksing in Arunachal Pradesh’s Upper Subansiri district, where troops reportedly encountered each other during patrols.
Kapur highlighted India’s efforts to strengthen border security through specialised Shaurya commandos, drone units, anti-drone systems and underground infrastructure. He said traditional methods alone would make it difficult to counter China’s military modernisation, making advanced technology increasingly important.
Responding to the developments, the Ministry of External Affairs said border tensions arise periodically when Chinese troops move away from established patrolling patterns. India and China continue to use diplomatic and military mechanisms to address disputes and prevent misunderstandings. The developments come amid ongoing efforts by both countries to improve bilateral relations while managing unresolved border issues.
