The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has stepped up its action against businesses selling adulterated and unsafe food products. During the drive, food samples collected earlier from Mahavir Ghee Bhandar in Madhupura failed laboratory tests.
The AMC Food Department found that vegetable fat had been mixed with the ghee. Following the report, officials visited the shop and sealed around 1,140 kg of ghee suspected to be adulterated. The department also took action against several other food businesses across the city. Inspections were carried out at a sauce-making unit in Vatva, Gujarat Fry Centre in Chandlodia and Mateshwari Chavana Mart in Vejalpur for violations of food safety rules. Further inspections are expected to continue across Ahmedabad.
