New Delhi: ETS, the creator of the TOEFL iBT test, hosted a TOEFL Experience Day at Sheraton New Delhi on August 12, bringing together 119 participants from Delhi’s education and study-abroad community.

The event focused on helping educators and counsellors better understand the enhanced TOEFL iBT test, changing student preferences and evolving opportunities in international education.

During the sessions, ETS experts and senior leaders from its South Asia team introduced participants to the four strategic pillars of TOEFL — Fair, Agile, Smart and Tailored (FAST) — and provided guidance on the four skills assessed by the test: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.Participants were also briefed on the enhanced test format, delivery and assessment approach. ETS provided official TOEFL preparation and classroom-support resources to help educators offer more structured guidance to students preparing for international education.

Delhi NCR remains a key study-abroad market, with students increasingly considering factors such as visa policies, education costs, employability and long-term career opportunities while selecting international destinations and academic programmes.ETS currently operates four active TOEFL test centres in Delhi. The region is also supported by more than 30 TOEFL Market Ambassadors, who engage with students through preparation sessions, campus outreach, mock tests and digital initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, said that access to accurate test information and informed guidance has become increasingly important as students navigate a more complex international education landscape.

The Delhi event is part of ETS’s broader engagement with education communities across major study-abroad markets. ETS said it plans to further expand its Market Ambassador network across the NCR region and strengthen local accessibility and engagement.

The TOEFL iBT test scores are accepted by more than 13,000 institutions across over 160 countries, according to ETS.
