US restaurant worker's severed finger served in salad, woman who 'chewed it' moves court
The incident also resulted in the Westchester County Department charging Chopt with a $900 civil penalty
A US woman has filed a lawsuit against a restaurant after the salad she was served contained a piece of human finger. According to reports, the woman claimed that she chewed on human meat after a piece of the restaurant manager's pointer ended up in her food.
According to a report by CBS News, the incident happened earlier this year on April 7 when Greenwich -native Allison Cozzi visited the Mount Kisco branch of the popular restaurant chain 'Chopt.'
The manager of the restaurant accidentally severed a piece of her left pointer finger while chopping arugula -- a leafy green vegetable. Although the staff asked for immediate medical help, the contaminated arugula was still served to Allison Cozzi along with the severed finger.
The incident also resulted in the Westchester County Department charging Chopt with a $900 civil penalty.
According to the complainant's lawsuit, it was too late by the time she realised the bizarre incident as "she was chewing on a portion of a human finger that had been mixed in to, and made a part of, the salad," a report said.
She is seeking unspecified monetary damages as she reportedly suffered injuries including shock, panic attacks, migraine, cognitive impairment and nausea as a result of eating the contaminated salad.
