US announces $725 mn military assistance to Ukraine

As the Russia-Ukraine war escalates, the US on Friday announced an additional $725 million military assistance for Ukraine.

This comes after Russia's recent missiles attacks on civilians in Ukraine.

This military assistance package includes high-speed anti-radiation missiles (HARMs) and precision-guided artillery as well as medical supplies, the Defense Department said in a statement.

HARM is an air-to-surface tactical missile designed to seek and destroy enemy radar-equipped air defense systems, according to the description on the official website of the US air force.

The package also includes the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HUMVEE).

With this the US's security assistance to Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion amounts to over $17.5 billion, Reuters stated in a report. The US had already provided 20 of the advanced High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, or HIMARS, and has promised 18 more.
