The Swedish Royal Court announced Tuesday that both the king and queen of Sweden have tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the court, King Carl XVI Gustaf, 75, and Queen Silvia, 78, both tested positive on Monday evening.

They exhibited "minimal symptoms" and were "feeling good under the circumstances," according to the court, who added that they were isolated at home.

In Sweden, daily coronavirus infection rates have risen dramatically in recent weeks.

According to numbers issued Tuesday by the Public Health Agency, the Nordic country achieved an all-time high of 11,507 Covid-19 instances in a single day on December 30, surpassing the previous high of 11,376 cases set in December 2020.

Since then, daily case rates have dipped marginally, hovering around 10,000.

The new coronavirus has already infected other members of Sweden's royal family.

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her spouse Prince Daniel tested positive in March 2021, and Prince Carl Philip of Sweden and his wife Princess Sofia tested positive in the fall of 2020.
