Protesters in Canada demand protection for minorities in Bangladesh

Over a thousand protesters gathered for a demonstration organised by the Bangladeshi-origin Hindu community and supporters to highlight the atrocities being committed against minorities there after the fall of the Government of Sheikh Hasina.

The protest was organised by the group Bangladeshi Hindi Canadians, but also drew support from other organisations.

It was held on Saturday afternoon at Nathan Philips Square, adjoining Toronto’s City Hall.

The protesters raised slogans against the ongoing atrocities targeting minority communities in Bangladesh, particularly Hindus and demanded justice from the interim government in Dhaka led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus as well the international community including action from Ottawa.
