Pakistan on Thursday reported over 3,000 new cases of Covid-19 after a gap of over four months, Dawn reported onFriday.

With this increase the number of Covid cases in the country has seen an extraordinary nine-fold increase in just one month.

The positivity ratio, which was 0.69 per cent on December 13, 2021, rose to 6.12 per cent on Thursday. Karachi reported 20.45 per cent positivity, Lahore 10.7 per cent, Rawalpindi 7.35 per cent, Islamabad 6.3 per cent, Gilgit 5.88 per cent and Gujrat 5.81 per cent.

The data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), showed that 3,019 cases and five deaths were reported across the country, with 651 patients on critical care, across the country on Thursday

Meanwhile, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.
