Nigeria: Army rescues 17 students kidnapped in northwest Sokoto

Nigerian army rescued 17 students and a woman who were kidnapped by armed men in north-west Sokoto state.
According to the state governor, Tsangaya students were freed on Friday after an operation coordinated by the army and the office of the national security adviser.

Reportedly, no ransom was sought by the kidnappers as the parents did not get any calls or messages from the abductors.
In the latest two mass abductions, nearly 300 students were kidnapped.
However, kidnappings at schools in Nigeria are not something new. It was first carried out by by jihadist group Boko Haram.
Over 200 students were captured from a girl’s school in Chibok in Borno state.
