The death toll from Malaysia's devastating floods has increased to 33, according to authorities.

According to Xinhua, quoting Bernama news agency, Selangor police chief Arjunaidi Mohamed stated the state's death toll has grown to 24, with another nine confirmed dead in Pahang state on Wednesday.

Some of the victims were located in their homes, while others were discovered as the floodwaters receded.

According to data from the Malaysian social welfare department, the number of people evacuated by flooding in Malaysia has decreased to 62,372 in six states plus Kuala Lumpur as of 10 p.m. local time Wednesday.
