Two crude bombs were hurled at the Maitree Express train from Kolkata to Dhaka by unidentified attackers in Bangladesh’s Pabna on Wednesday afternoon, reports said.

The bombs exploded beside the passing train near Ishwardi Junction around 12 pm, the Dhaka Tribune reported, adding that no passenger has been injured, reported the Dhaka Tribune.

The train continued its journey towards Dhaka even though the windows of one of the compartments got damaged, it said.

There are three train services between India and Bangladesh—Kolkata-Khulna-Kolkata Bandhan Express and New Jalpaiguri-Dhaka Mitali Express being the other two.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday jointly inaugurated a key rail link between Tripura's Nischintapur and Gangasagar in the neighbouring country.

The cross-border rail project near Tripura's capital Agartala and Akhaura in Bangladesh is expected to boost cross-border trade, and significantly reduce the travel time between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka.
