“Be the heroine of your life, not the victim”, With this message and spirit at heart, a group of young girls from Oasis Movement, a charitable trust based in Vadodara, at Sayajibaug, Amphitheater as a part of their women’s special Saamarthya Project.
With an audience of 200+, these girls boldly put across a message to all, “It’s high time we stop waiting for the society and world to change. True courage and spirit is in taking full responsibility for our life and accomplishing our dreams despite whatever society says.”
The message was passed through a drama which showcased how 2 sisters live drastically different lives in the same family and society. While one bows down to the social pressure of being a girl and leads a life full of misery, the other stands tall for her values and dreams, fights the stereotypes and lives an extraordinary life.
The women in the audience also engaged in taking the first step of courage by writing bold questions regarding gender stereotypes on their board “Dare to ask questions”.
“The reality is, if we as women take our life in our hands and live with a lot of courage in our hearts, there’s no power in any society that can pull us down. The final choice and responsibility is ours alone.” said Riya, lead organiser of the event.
The team consisted of first year girls from MS University and was a life changing experience for all involved.
