They find it classy and healthy

Women spend more on a bottle of wine then men is the latest report relased by Sonal Holland, India’s first and only Master of Wine. The report states that women find the wine as Classy, healthy and can drink it in the presence of family members as they experience less cultural hesitation.

The report states women purchase wine often in almost all occasions and spend more then men on the bottle of wine. The report also said about women more frequent on consumption, spending which grow popularity of female wine drinkers in India. The report is prepared by Holland in collaboration with London-based Wine Intelligence a global consumer research leader.

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), per capita alcohol consumption in India has increased from 2.4 litres in 2005 to 5.7 litres in 2016 with 4.2 litres being consumed by men and 1.5 litres by women.

The report also states that while working on survey about the urban Indian wine consumer it was known that the understanding about wine is limited and with awareness the consumption also increased. The awareness is also less about the styles and names of region and varieties.
