“The railway coaches turned into Covid 19 coaches for the treatment of patients are kept ready and will be used by the administration as per need. We prepared the coaches as per the requirement and they are kept ready at the station by our staff,” said Devendra Kumar Divisional Railway Manager Vadodara. He also added that Vadodara is ready to handle the rush after the normalcy returns and will introduce many facilities to maintain the precautions which is now a necessity for everyone.

In the first ever web press conference organised by DRM Devendra Kumar, he put focus on the subject of achievements and new innovations in the Western Railway’s Vadodara division. He spoke about the achievements of the board and the good work done in the last few months through a power point presentation in a virtual press conference. Seven mediapersons participated in the web conference.

During this time, questions were also asked about the activities by the division during the Corona time and good work going on in the board. The web press conference was conducted by the Public Relations Officer of the Board, Khemraj Meena.

DRM put focus on the work done during the time of Covid 19 lockdown and said the board has introduced many initiatives during the time which gives a new dimension to the working culture in the division. Talking about the achievements of the year 2019-20 he said, In this financial year, Vadodara division received revenue of 8.34 crore from passenger traffic, 2.64 crore from coaching and 3.95 crore from goods traffic.

Last year, on 30th October, the new newly constructed major line Chhotaudpur-Alirajpur was cleared for traffic. The newly built Chhayapuri railway station building with excellent facilities for passengers was released to the nation on 14 December last year by the Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi.

During 2019-20, 60 new locomotives based on 3 phase IGBTs were introduced in the electric loco shed, on the other hand 44 HOG based locomotives were also commissioned.
On 30 June, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (Western Circle) RK Sharma inspected the Alirajpur-Khandala new major line (9.72 km) under the (157 km) Chhota Udepur-Dhar railway line project.

According to the guidelines of the Railway board and with a view to increase the freight traffic by the Indian Railways, a Multi-Disciplinary Business Development Unit (BDU) has been formed in Vadodara division of Western Railway. The formation of BDU is a good step in the direction of promotion from a commercial point of view to increasing rail transport and logistics business.

Western Railway has added another chapter in its account of its achievements, in which it has proved its superiority in the list of 15 good works identified by Railway Board during the period from January 1, 2020 to May 31, 2020. The unique achievement of his three best works is recorded which included two functions of the Vadodara division to combat flasher light failure due to moisture. Partial change in the position of flasher light hoods in MEMU trains and improvement in system, capacity and reliability to reduce costs along with conventional lead acid batteries in MEMU DMC replaced by Installing VRLA type battery.

Recently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India gave Vadodara railway station of Vadodara division a certificate of ‘Eat Right Station’ with Five Star rating. Vadodara station met the FSSAI standards set under the Right Food Better Life and got five star rating.

Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijaybhai Rupani presented mementoes to the Divisional Railway Managers of Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Vadodara, to provide services to the migrants by conducting organised and safe labour special trains for migrant workers from Gujarat by Indian Railways. During this period, Vadodara division sent 1.38 lakh migrants to their homes by 100 Shramik special trains.
