The Vocational training centre project ‘PRERNA”, Sustainable Livelihood Program for Women was inaugurated at Baroda Citizens Council. It aims to

support economically underprivileged women from urban slums as well as revive traditional art and handicrafts by training and encouraging budding artisans through free skill development workshops on Cutting and Stitching, hand embroidery, and creating home decors, handcrafted jewellery, bags, hand-painted greeting cards mentoring and counselling sessions, and similar supportive activities.

The Women beneficiaries were motivated by the dignitaries as they shared their experiences and joumey through which they joined “PRERNA” Project. Along with the inauguration, under the SAVERA Project — Educational Sponsorship Program for Girl Child supported by MG Motor India, 15 girls were given educational sponsorship at the event. The Project SAVERA aims to educate 500 girl child from the 7 talukas of Panchmahal district.

An exhibition and sale of carefully crafted products by women beneficiaries was showcased. In the era of COVID-19, where everyone is affected with economic crisis, this project brings some hope of new learning, innovation, sustainable development and economic independence for families living in critical circumstances.

Baroda Citizens Council (BCC) has been working in the city of Vadodara since 54 years. The organization has been active in the field of Child Rights, Women Empowerment, as well as Health related issues in Vadodara Rural and Urban areas.

The project was inaugurated by the chief Guest Tejal Amin Chairperson, Navrachana Education Society, Educationist & Philanthropist. Yeshwinder Patial — Director HR, Officials, Manish Patel — Director IT, Sameer Jindal -Director PE., Vikas Varma — Director Purchase, Manish Manek — Chief Plant Officer, Jayanta Deb — Chief Technical Officer, Mausam Joshi — Deputy General Manager — HR, Parlin Patel — Deputy Manager HR, Ankita Das — Manager HR, Kiransinh Rathod — Sr. Manager HR from MG Motor India and Sameer Khera – Chairperson BCC, Minesh Patel — Trustee BCC and Priya Jagdale – Executive Director BCC also graced the Inauguration.
