Dashama festival is celebrated in Vadodara city with great enthusiasm as devotees instal the idol of goddess at their homes for ten days. The idols later will be immersed in water after the completion of ten days. However in view of Corona pandemic the Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan put a ban on immersion at lakes, rivers and canals.

Nalin Upadhyay, Municipal Commissioner, Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan, issued a notification regarding the immersion of the idols in Dashama. Amid Coronavirus pandemic the corporation is taking various measures to prevent transmission of disease and appeal people to follow the guidelines. The city is celebrating the Dashama festival and on the last day the idols will be immersed inside water as per tradition. However this time the corporation has put a ban on immersion of the idols in lakes, rivers and canals. Furthermore action will be taken against anyone violating this notification and will be fined for Rs 5,000.

It is to be mentioned that the Dashama festival began from 20th July and celebrated by setting up idols of the goddess for ten days. And ten days the idols will be immersed on the last day on 29th July. As corporation put a ban on immersion inside lakes and rivers, the now have to immerse the Dashama idols inside their homes.
