On the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, intensive sanitation campaign was carried out at Vadodara division of Western Railway under Swachhta Pakhwada. On the other hand, Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan also ran in Mandal as part of the campaign.
This year Gandhi Jayanti is being celebrated as Indian Railway Community Service Day. On this occasion various programs was organised at Vadodara railway station. The Scout Guide Unit organized the Sarvadharma prayer meeting in the presence of Divisional Railway Manager Devendra Kumar, officers and employees.
After this the scout guides takes out a public hygiene rally to educate the traveling passengers. Volunteers of Sant Nirankari Charitable Trust done Shramdan at station premises.
Students of Sant Kabir School organized a nukkad natak to convey the message of cleanliness. Divisional Railway Manager at the station distributed compost packets prepared from Solid Waste Management Plant to the people. Young Indians also distributed prizes for drawing and painting competition organized for school children.
Gandhiji’s 150th birth anniversary was celebrated through programs such as comprehensive sanitation campaigns, awareness about the cleanliness of campuses, shramdaan at all stations of Vadodara division.
During the fortnight, cleanliness campaign was also conducted in 27 railway colonies of Mandal. Anand received the award for Best Clean Colony in the category of big colonies. Similarly, Vishwamitri was first in the category of medium colonies, Sevalia got the award for the Small Best Clean Colony.
