Vadodara : Security put up around Sursagar lake to prevent people feed birds

Heated arguments took place due to the action

The historical Sursagar lake in Vadodara is also known for birds specially pigeon flock there during the whole day. People often visit there to feed them and purchase the grams and others from sellers sit nearby. However from Thursday security has been placed there to stop people feed the birds which leads to heated arguments and protest.

Large number of birds gather at this place every day and people often seen there feeding them with gram and other items. Due to this the birds litter around the lake as well as on the Shiva statue situated in middle of the lake. In order to prevent dirt and maintain cleanliness, security has been deployed around the Sursagar Lake by the municipality.

As a result heated arguments was there between security and bird watchers who comes there to feed the birds as per their routine. Seven security guards have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident at the spot and stop people to feed the birds. It is to be noted here that after beautification of Surasagar lake, the statue of Shiva is going to be covered with gold and this step has been taken by the administration as part of maintain cleanliness.
