Mumbai Airport to shut down for 6 hours on November 20

Flight operations at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will come to a halt from 11 am to 5 pm on November 20, 2025, as both runways — RWY 09/27 and RWY 14/32 — undergo scheduled post-monsoon maintenance.

During this period, flight movements will remain suspended. Airlines have already been notified, and no flights have been scheduled in this six-hour window.

According to a report, Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), the authority that operates Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), said that the maintenance is part of a routine policy to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient airside operations.

A NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) has been issued to alert airlines and stakeholders about the runway maintenance at Mumbai Airport, giving them sufficient time to adjust flight schedules and manage manpower efficiently.

The maintenance efforts at Mumbai airport runways will include checking drainage systems, runway lighting, markings, surface repairs, and detailed inspections.

Post-monsoon maintenance is an integral part of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport’s year-round operational readiness strategy, ensuring that the travel experience offers top-notch safety and comfort.

Among the world’s busiest single-runway airports, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport welcomed 5 million passengers between January to August in 2025, compared to 4.8 million in 2024, for the same duration.
