New Update
WhatsApp users will soon be able to chat with Meta AI using voice

WhatsApp is reportedly working on launching a new voice chat mode for its intelligent assistant Meta AI.

First spotted by WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, the feature is expected to work like the voice chat mode in ChatGPT, Google Gemini or other AI chatbots.

However, users can easily exit this mode by either leaving the chat with Meta AI or switching to text mode, giving them better control over their AI interactions and safeguarding their privacy.

They will also receive confirmation that Meta AI has stopped listening by checking the privacy indicator, which shows whether the microphone is in use.

Additionally, users will be able to configure the kind of speech output they want from the assistant based on their preferences.

Quite like Copilot and ChatGPT in text mode, the available text configurations are said to be "Full" and "Brief".

“Full” will give more detailed and comprehensive responses to your query whereas “brief” will give short and to-the-point responses when you want specific information on the spot.

Users might also be able to choose certain voices for Meta AI from a set of options, the same way you do for Siri, Google Assistant or even ChatGPT.

WABetaInfo also added that WhatsApp will also offer the ability to turn on captions and transcriptions when you are interacting with Meta AI.

The feature is currently under development and not ready even for beta testers. It will be available for both Android and iOS users in upcoming updates.
