Recently, the platform introduced passkeys for Apple iOS customers for a secure login process.

In a latest blog post, PayPal has announced that the passkeys feature will be available for Google Android customers as well.

PayPal’s stock has been battered by the slowdown in growth in payments volume on its platform after the pandemic began to recede.

According to the announcement, the Google Android users in the United States running the Android 9+ OS will be able to create a passkey for their personal PayPal account.

After the user creates a passkey, he/she does not need to remember or type the password to log in. However, passwords will remain on the Paypal platform.

The FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium created passkeys which have been designed to replace passwords with cryptographic key pairs and digital credentials like biometric sensors.

The passkeys are a simple and secure method to log in to the PayPal accounts based on technology protecting against phishing.

PayPal is a founding member of the FIDO alliance and among the first financial platforms to make passkey authentication available to the users.

It is said that the passkeys will address the weakness of password authentication of web.

How to create an passkey for PayPal on Android?

On the Chrome browser of your Android 9+ device, log in to PayPal using your username and existing password.

To create a passkey, the option might appear with information about it. You will be required to authenticate the same way as unlocking the device which will create the passkey.

3. After creating the passkey, you will be directed to the home screen. Now, you can begin using the passkey to log in to the platform.
