Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal will take a few weeks off for the birth of his second kid, according to the microblogging social media company.

According to the Washington Post, Agrawal will take less than the company's 20-week paternity leave.

During his vacation, Agrawal, who took over as CEO of Twitter in November and is the executive sponsor of the company's internal parents' network, plans to stay "connected" with the company's executive team.

"At Twitter, we encourage and fully support employees taking parental leave in whatever way works best for each person. It's a personal decision, and we created a parental leave program (supporting up to 20 weeks of flexible leave) that is customizable for that reason," Laura Yagerman, head of corporate communications at Twitter, said in a statement emailed to The Verge.

She further stated that while Agrawal is on leave, he will be connected to the company's top executives.

There is no information about the interim CEO who will run the company while he is away.

According to the World Policy Analysis Centre's most recent data, the average paid maternity leave is 29 weeks and the average paid paternity leave is 16 weeks in the world.
