iPhone 16 Pro to get major charging tech upgrades,

As anticipation builds for the September launch of the iPhone 16 series, new leaks suggest notable upgrades in charging capabilities for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The latest rumours, however, indicate these models will feature faster wired and MagSafe wireless charging compared to last year’s iPhone 15 Pro models, potentially enhancing user convenience by allowing quicker battery top-ups.

According to a report, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to support 40W wired charging and 20W wireless charging via MagSafe.

This represents a significant improvement over the iPhone 15 series, which maxed out at 27W for wired charging and 15W for MagSafe wireless charging.

If these claims prove accurate, users will experience substantially faster charging times, making it easier to keep their devices powered throughout the day.

The iPhone 15 series introduced a USB Type-C port, supporting up to 27W peak charging speeds with a compatible charger. The official MagSafe chargers, available from Apple and authorized third-party sellers, support up to 15W wireless charging.

Apple asserted that using a 20W or higher power adapter, the iPhone 15 series could charge up to 50 per cent within 30 minutes, matching the charging performance of the previous iPhone 14 series.

In addition to faster charging speeds, the iPhone 16 series is rumoured to feature increased battery capacities compared to their 2023 predecessors.

Reports suggest the iPhone 16 Pro Max will house a 4,676mAh battery, while the iPhone 16 Pro will come with a 3,355mAh battery.

The standard iPhone 16 is expected to have a 3,561mAh battery, and the iPhone 16 Plus could include a 4,006mAh battery.

For comparison, teardown videos reveal that the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max have batteries with capacities of 3,367mAh, 4,383mAh, 3,290mAh, and 4,422mAh, respectively.

Apple is also reportedly increasing the energy density of the batteries in the iPhone 16 series.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that Apple will use stainless steel cases for the iPhone batteries to comply with EU regulations while enhancing battery cell density.

This improvement could lead to longer battery life and better overall performance, addressing a common area of concern for smartphone users.
