In December last year, Google rolled out a feature to search results on desktop called ‘topic filters’. It works by suggesting topics based on your search term.

If you search on Google for Pixel 7, the results will be categorized into topics like ‘details’ and ‘reviews’ on the right side of normal search tabs like ‘shopping’, ‘images’ and ‘news’.

Recently, the tech giant rolled out the feature to the desktop version of Google Search. Google says topics are dynamic and change as you tap on results.

This change will enable those using the service to search and categorize the information they are looking for precisely. Google also introduced a new drop-down menu labelled ‘All filters’ that lets users set filters.

It is really helpful since those browsing all will no longer have control over which tabs will appear next since the algorithm will now show terms it thinks you might be interested in.

Until now, the search tabs comprised of eight categories, namely, images, maps shopping, news, videos, flights, books and finance.

Currently available to English users in the USA, it is soon expected to expand to other languages and regions.

Few months ago, Google added the ability to do reverse image search on Search and announced it was working on new features for Indian users like multi-search in Hindi and support for bilingual search results.
