Apple's latest iOS version patched a flaw that might have captured conversations with virtual assistant Siri on some iPhones, regardless of whether you turned off the feature.

According to ZDNet, the flaw, which initially appeared in iOS 15, automatically enabled the aImprove Siri & Dictation' feature, which allows Apple to record, preserve, and evaluate your Siri interactions.

With the release of iOS 15.2, Apple switched off the setting for "many" Siri users after discovering the flaw.

Users will be asked if they want to opt-in or out of the second beta of iOS 15.4 after the update has been installed on their iPhone.

"This bug inadvertently enabled the setting for a small portion of devices. Since identifying the bug, we stopped reviewing and are deleting audio received from all affected devices," Apple added.

Apple has also removed the recordings that were collected mistakenly.

"With iOS 15.2, we turned off the Improve Siri & Dictation setting for many Siri users while we fixed a bug introduced with iOS 15," Apple said late Tuesday in a statement.

"This bug inadvertently enabled the setting for a small portion of devices. Since identifying the bug, we stopped reviewing and are deleting audio received from all affected devices," Apple added.

The beta version of iOS 15.4 is now available. Users will see a prompt asking for permission to enable the aImprove Siri & Dictation' function with this update.
