1971 Indo- Pak War was a landmark victory for the nation as well as its armed forces and is celebrated as VIJAY DIWAS every year. To commemorate the commencement of the Golden Jubilee year and as a tribute to all war heroes, KONARK CORPS has undertaken a SWARNIM VIJAY VARSH 1971 CYCLOTHON event.
As part of the seventh leg of the cyclothon, the expedition was flagged off from Jaisalmer War Museum and culminated a Ecological Territorial Army Battalion Srimohangarh, covering a distance of 194 km. A team of 02 officers and 18 brave hearts of Indian Armed Forces undertook the expedition, to spread awareness about COVID-19 amongst the rural populace of the area.
The expedition also reached out to all Ex-Servicemen, Next of Kins and Veer Naaris in the area, to create awareness about various welfare schemes and monetary benefits of the government.
The rally was flagged off at 0700 hrs from Jaisalmer War Museum by war veteran Havildar Chottu Singh, Shaurya Chakra of 14 Grenadiers, a Gallantry Award winner of 1982 for his valiant action against the invading raiders from Pakistan on his village 35 km from IB in Sam Tehsil and flagging in by Naik (Retired) Sagat Singh , a war veteran of 1971 Indo – Pak war from 9 Rajputana Rifles at Srimohangarh.
The expedition team was greeted with a lot of zeal and fervor by the local population and Ex-servicemen community in spite of pandemic scenario. A medical camp was also organised at Srimohangarh by the medical team of Konark Corps.
