Air operations today are changing from platform-centric to network-centric. Network-Centric War depends on computer processing power, robust, reliable and secure communication network to provide shared information of the battle space to armed forces. This shared awareness increases synergy between sensors, shooters and command and control centre, resulting in superior decision making and the ability to co-ordinate complex military operations over long distances for a war fighting advantage.

AFNET is a multidimensional network facilitating seamless, reliable and secure integration of various NCW elements and weapons systems of IAF. The network has been proven as a key force enabler during multiple IAF exercises and HADR operations including Gaganshakti-18 and Vayushakti-19.
