Under-fire Chetan Sharma has, reportedly, stepped down as the chairman of the selection committee following his controversial statements on some Indian cricketers in a sting operation conducted by a TV channel recently.

Sharma's position as chairman of national selection committee has become untenable after his alleged 'loose talk' during a sting operation.
BCCI was expected to give him a chance to defend himself before taking a final decision.
Sharma being caught in a sting operation had not gone down too well with the top brass of the BCCI, and the incident might have a far reaching impact on the relationship between media on one hand and the Indian team and selectors on the other.
In the sting operation done by Zee News, Sharma alleged that a lot of players take injections to expedite their return to competitive cricket despite being 80 to 85 per cent fit.
The former India pace bowler also alleged that there was a difference of opinion between him and the team management over Bumrah's return from a stress fracture for the T20I series against Australia in September.
Sharma also alleged that there was an ego tussle between former captain Kohli and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly.
Sharma, according to Zee News, said that though Ganguly did not favour Rohit Sharma, he never liked Kohli.
Sharma also said that Pandya visits his house often, and that he shares a good relationship with Pandya and Rohit Sharma.
