Chasing the target of 128 runs, Pakistan was 38 for 0 wickets in 7.3 overs against Bangladesh at Adelaide Oval, when reports last came in.

Shanto was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 54 runs, while Afif Hossain contributed 24 runs. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi bagged four wickets.

The clash between Pakistan and Bangladesh is now a virtual quarterfinal as the winner will join India in the semi-finals from group 2.

Earlier today, the Netherlands staged a massive upset defeating South Africa at the same venue, ensuring India a place in the semi-finals. South African batters failed to chase a moderate score of 159 runs.

Dutch bowlers restricted the Proteas to 145 for 8 in 20 overs.
